Project Summary

The Tin Box is a charming little store located in the heart of Canmore. Known for its unique selection of gifts, home decor, and souvenirs, Tin Box always has something special to offer. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a must-visit for anyone exploring the town. Now, they have opened a second location in Edmonton’s beautiful new Manchester Square.

Project Goals

Lexus Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for this tenant improvement project. We worked closely with Peyton Interior Design and North Elm Construction (GC) to meet strict design requirements. One notable challenge was the ductwork layout; since this store is 2-story and contains a rooftop HVAC unit, we needed to find a cost-effective way to provide ventilation on the main floor of the shop.

Our Solution

Our team of mechanical designers solved the challenge of the ductwork by identifying a location at the back of the shop that could be used to pass a duct from the top floor to the floor below. To ensure that this would work, we conducted a thorough site visit and revealed the space between the two floors, taking measurements to ensure that the duct would fit. From there, we selected the appropriate grille to ensure proper airflow throughout the main floor and mezzanine, which helped us save costs by avoiding the need for additional return ducts.

Result

Lexus Engineering worked hard to provide a functional and cost-effective design, and assisted construction by regularly attending site meetings, field reviews, and verifications throughout the 6-month construction period. We believe this store is exactly the kind of business The Manchester Square needs and will attract shoppers to this unique plaza. We are proud to have contributed our services to this project.
